In addition to the new optional product data specification features, more Merchants are now able to access the sale price annotations feature as Google relaxes the requirements.
Changes starting September 1
Product data specification requirements in Australia, starting on September 1 are likely to affect a number of online retailers.
One of the most notable changes pertains mostly to Media, Apparel & Accessories retailers as Google introduces product data specification requirements for products that fall under these categories. Descriptive attributes including gender, age group, colour and size will now be required and failure to comply will result in limited eligibility to serve.
All products will be required to have a description attribute. The Algorithm will favour products with description attributes and they will be more likely to serve. This will mean that products without a description will likely have limited performance.
Finally, warnings will appear for any items that have multiple attributes for material, pattern or image link. You can no longer use commas to separate different materials or patterns. Hyphens and slashes will continue to be accepted. Secondary images can be used by submitting other image links under the additional image link attribute.
